16th March W.It is dark these mornings. Though it will sun up later they day.
Finished with toast , coffee and crossword. Should be a peaceful day today.
Vad's back is playing up somewhat.
I did the more tentative 20s with the two 5Kg dumbbells. Later some rows with the 22Kg dumbbell. It seems to be heavier each time.
I filled up one of our wheelie bins by cutting up the tree cuttings. Still a lot to go.
Lunch was thick soup for me and a  big sandwich for Vad.
It is warming up quite a bit. And the sun shines too. I have turned the cool on.

No more blogging for a while.;
15th March T. Slowly rain drizzling as I bring in the newspapers  about 6AM.
Had breakfast and done both crosswords.
Almost daylight outside. I can see a mob of blackbirds eating the bread that I put out yesterday in the garden. Time to help Vad get up.
Must tidy up a bit as a home help arrives today. They are supposed to do an hours stuff. But not always as it were.
The newspaper says the armed  (!)  police have arrested two whole persons from yesterdays riot. That'll tell em.
They should use police thugs not gunmen. Send in the Bikies.
The blackbirds etc are still at the bread or what remains of it.
The grass is growing again I fear. After having it cut back so well recently.
Lunch was tomatoes on toast -me. Vad had a cucumber sandwich. Plus banana and custard.
She got something in her throat and tried to spit it out. Not skillfully. She said that Clint Eastwood was always spitting.
But when I pointed out that -  she 'wasn't the man that  Clint was' - she erupted in laughing ???
I wash up and put one of the two wheelie bins out for emptying tomorrow.
Still a grey day but windy at times.
Later we have coffee and then  I put the other wheelie bin out front.
Dinner was  mashed tatoes, brocolli and lots of bacon. rather filling.
Vad gets a phone call from, a relative. So i wash up.
Then we watch 'Egg Heads' etc.

14th March M. Up early and 'at em'. Got the washing machine going. Had my breakfast. An odd feature was that I watched Chinese news as I ate my toast and coffee. And a map of Australia appeared. Then obviously a riot. So I changed to a local channel - to find out that there had actually been a race riot in Melbourne.
NOMAs of course ( IE men of no appearance).
The police commissioner said the police did well by not being provoked by the rioters. I.E. they were few in number and did very little.
Shopping day today so the list is readied. But Morwell was oddly quiet as  drove to Woolworths. It is Labour day but is it usually as observed as this ?
There was a surprising number of men with children at foot going round Woolworths. The ones with three plus children had that blank look  that such fathers have. Used to be called 'the thousand yard stare'.
Home, unload ,put away.
Have coffee and custard tart.
Nap.
Lunch a ham,. tomato and lettuce sandwich for Vad . I had a chicken parmegan micro for me.
Bright idea! I search around and actually find the house we were in when first married in Glen Forrest W.A.
Amazing! Outside it has not changed much. We were there circa 1965.
I tried out the new electric chain saw. I had to use a mile long cable of course. but it worked like a dream.   Cut through branches like a knife  through butter. Mark you my legs ached a lot as there  was much squatting and getting at odd angles to get where I needed. Still worth it. The  sapling is now in bits. Some more of this and I will order a skip.
Bring in the dried washing and give mince to grey cat who was watching.
Dinner was traditional Vad style fish, chips and salad. OK. And filling.
To my surprise frozen flattie tails have reappeared in Woolworths.
We watch 'Egg Heads' and I wash up etc.

13th March  Sn. Dark and drizzly as I drove to the newsagent. Here I bought the weekend's reading material. And back home just in time to help Vad with her pills etc.
And I start on the Age crossword. I have the copy and vad does the original.
Let the best ??? win.
It seems that I must post a letter for Vad. So , after this,  I go to Bunnings as well.
I decided on a cheap electric chain saw to enable me to diminish all the sapling and suchlike in out gardens.
My arms were aching a bit from some weights. And getting the boxed chain saw down from the shelf rather tested me.  Got some oil and hearing protection things as well.
And home I go.
I can't be very fearful. As I came along our street there was a cat sitting in the middle  of the road. It wouldn't move till I honked at it.
And then - Just in time to make coffee.
I must put the chain saw together but , first, s bit of a nap.
Lunch was a butter chicken micro for me. Vad had leftover pie reheated.
We've finished the crossword.  Neither of us could spell 'Knesset' at first.
Another mouse in the mulch bin. will have to  put Ratsak in again.
My but my quads ache. A couple of Panadol help a bit.
I water the immortal African Violet. Then we have coffee and discuss (I) the lunacy of the world and (2) what we will have for dinner.
My chair is a bit wobbly so i give it a bit of a wallop asnd then put two screws into the chairleg. See how that goes.
I put the chain saw together but dont give it a go as yet.
Dinner was fancy mushroom and rice micro for me. Vad had ham , cheese and pickles on toast.
Nothing much on TV so far. Still quite hot and humid.

12th March S. Slept better last night - why? GOK. Not so hot possibly.
It looks like I don't have to drive to the library for Vad today.  She has unread books left.
Day started out grey but I can see a bit of blue sky now.
Assorted birds are eating the old bread I put out for them.
Oddly though the big birds are no more. A large bunch of big black crows used to dominate the garden. Followed by   a group of big magpies.
Though Vad says she saw a big crow today and she could hear the magpies singing in the morning.
Lunch was spaghetti on toast ( me) and Vad had a ham and cheese sandwich.
I really feel not at all energetic. GOK why. No malaise though my arms ache and legs feel stiff and leaden.
still I did the washing up.
I even found an aerial view (1956) of the school I went to when I was 13 years old.
Vad's back is playing up more than usual.
Then she gets a phone call from a friend with a bad back. Gossip, gossip.
Dinner was tatoes ( mashed) , chicken pie , broccoli and gravy. And very nice too.
Vad watched a gardening program and I played on the computer.

11th March F. Didn't sleep all that well. Still up about half five as usual.
Will be a busy morning.
Got the washing machine going asnd then had my breakfast and attacked the crosswords.
Started doing the shopping 'List'.
Did some modest weights. Still made  me sweat.
Helped Vad up for her breakfast.
Hung out the washing in grey dubious weather. Bet it rains.
Did the chemist shopping list for our pills.
Drove to Mid Valley shopping centre  and went to work. put in my order at the chemist. A minute Asiatic female took it.
Trot round Woolworths buying this and that. no broccoli -ha! they had none.
Bought bread at Bakers Delight.
Back to the chemist and got a lot of pills ( mostly for Vad).
Home i go and unload all the stuff.
Just in time to make coffee and share the cake.
Have a nap.
Lunch was sandwiches all round.
The weather is heating up and Lo and behold - there is some blue sky visible.
I play on my computer for a while.
Vad naps and I do some vacuuming. I put out the chicken carcass in the garden and grey cat mysteriously appears and eats it.
Bring in the washing - very dry.
We didn't feel up to a cooked dinner. It was too warm anyway. So Sandwiches each again plus some ice cream.  We gossip about the quality of ice cream in yester year.
Time to watch Egg Heads. Rther dimwit challengers.
I do 40 'skullcrushers' with the 15 Kg weight.

10th  March Th. Poor Vad - as she has to have a fasting blood test today. So - No breakfast for her.
It is drizzling outside as I eat my toast etc.
And have , more or less, done both crosswords.
The world carries on.
We get reading and drive to the path lab. And Vad is taken in to the blood letting  place. They are in there for a while. Gossiping I assumed.
Later vad told me the bleeder (or venusectionist)  asked who I was. Because as a child she had seen me (along with her mother) and I had red hair (true) . Alas she was right. but now I have a  little grey/white hair.  And now , of course , the blood taker is now a grandmother.
Time passes.
Home we go. Vad has her breakfast and I have some coffee.
The Herald Sun newspaper is full of the usual propaganda and tosh. We seemed to have less when I was a child in WW2.
Lunch was a micro meal each - Cannelloni for vad and Butter chicken for me. Rather filling
I weigh 92.6Kg. And it is nigh 3PM - time for Vad's nap. And I wash up etc.
The Nutri blender is in fairly regular use. Today I did most of two apples. This works ok. Though the little paper labels on the apples are not well dealt with. When you have old brittle teeth - having the fruit done this way is a good idea.
It is raining.
Not done this for a while.
Dinner was large- chicken pie, potatoes, peas and gravy. A very generous helping too.
Time for more 'Egg Heads' and washing up.

10th March W. Pay day! Well the pension arrives anyway.
It was a warm wheezy night.
Time for toast with blue cheese and coffee. Followed by more toast with real butter and jam. and more coffee.
Then I do both crosswords. I don't have to be useful today. Huzzah!
Going to be darn hot they say. Currently hasn't made up its mind. rather grey but warm.
There must be over a dozen humming birds in the bush outside my window. Tiny , yellow breasted birds.
I stretched my arms and a mass of them flew away. All is quiet at present
The politicians are wittering on as usual. Looks like there may be an election june or so.
Huzzah I have just found a bag of potato crisps that I bought and forgot. Tucked away in a cupboard they were. But not now. Vad had some as well.
I settled on a butter chicken micro for lunch. Vad had chicken fingers (five).
Still very grey and humid but not fearfully warm. Still I have a lay down in the cool room after washing up etc. Then I bring in th emptied wheelie bins.
Later we got a phone call asking how we felt about the police. It was a survey and I answered the  questions.
E.G-  "No I didn't drink drive " as I didn't drink, "had I experienced domestic violence?" - Well I've survived over fifty years of marriage. etc etc.
In truth the police are a vague entity whom I wouldn't expect much from.
I looked for grey cat -nothing.
Dinner was tatoes, broccoli, gravy and bacon. An OK meal.
Not had potatoes in a while.
Yet again we watch 'Egg Heads'.
I do the 20s with the  two five Kg dumbbells.

9th March T. Vad says I fell out of bed in the night. well i didn't notice it.
Going to be a warm day and the radio says us old people should be looked out for ! That'll be the day.
Well I had my toast and blue cheese and coffee.
With a bit of luck today will be an idle day. Though the home help comes . So i will have to do some tidying up.
Vad is up and had her 'Nutrigrain' for breakfast.
I got the big shears and cut up more bush till I couldn't cram any more into the wheelie bin. Then I put said bin out on the nature strip for emptying tomorrow.
There is still a great deal to cut up. I will probably need a skip and maybe an electric chain saw as well.
Another grey Gippsland day. I change the mop head so the HH will be happy.
We have coffee ( and I have toast) and the HH arrives. all cheerful like. So things carry on.
I retreat to the computer room to be out of the way. Vad has a gossip.
Lunch was prawn sandwich each. there were prawns left over which I ate (vad said I could) It is getting warmer and warmer. So we retreated to the cool room.
Vad has to see the orthopedic specialist at 2:45PM for a sort of check up on her left shoulder.
So we set out about 2:15AM. The traffic was sparse. Well to start of with. I had the fan and cooler on.
BUT when we got near to the doctor place the traffic thickened up. there was no parking in the doctor place. So I sort  of dump Vad and hr rollator in  the front of the surgery - while I drive round and round to find parking. Which I do.
When I catch up wit Vad the waiting room is full. unusual. Still it turns out there wasn't a  long wait.
and the checkup was brief.
he seemed happy with the shoulder and its range of movement. Still he wants a further checkup in a years time.
We drive home careful the back way -slow and peaceful.
I wash up. Vad has a sleep in the cool. It is  32C in our front room.
Dinner was a chicken sandwich each . Quite filling,
We watch 'Egg Heads'.

7th March M. A work day. So I make and have my breakfast. Get the washing machine going . And sort out the shopping 'List'. An important ritual. Well it helps me not to forget things. ( Still I meant to buy Drano and forgot!) Curses.
And at about half eight I am on my way.
First I get money for Vad and for me from the ATM. I still feel nervous using one of these. Supposing something goes wrong? what do I do?
Anyway - then round Woolworth's I trot. Buying this and that. As it is going to be hot we decided I should get both prawns and a cooked chicken amongst other things.
Following i reload bread at the bakers and home I go.
Unload everything and put them away. I need a bit of a sit down after this
Then empty the washing machine and hang out to dry all the washed clothing.
Vad is watching 'Vera' which goes on forever. So i gather up stuff  that appeared in our garden ( a football, a bowl and sort of quasi religious sign thing) and return it to next door - the government place for 'vulnerables'. I am met by a tall red headed fellow who takes them from me.
Not back inside for long when the door bell rings. A young fellow plus a bigger ? warder type want my OK to recover a ball  that was kicked into our garden. OK by me.
There was a cat fight in the back garden. Grey cat versus a ginger and white cat. Then they both disappeared into the garage.
Don't see many cats these days. Vad thinks they are deliberately being killed. Quite possible. The righteous are everywhere.
Lunch was a prawn sandwich each. Vad had a pear as well.
Still a grey sky even though it is warm. Where are the blue skies of yesterday?
Eventually I remember to bring in the washing. And later, much later, fold it up.
Dinner was a warm chicken sandwich each. (Carved by me)
I did manage to do some token weights
With 25Kg EZ bar 15 curls and then 15 rows, with the 15Kg weight 30 triceps.

6th March Sn. Well I've driven to the newsagent and back. It was dark. But almost no traffic.
I got 'English womans weekly', 'people Friend' and the 'Age' newspaper ( for the crossword need I say).
Then I renewed the weekly delivery of the Herald Sun.
Had my breakfast. Now Vad is up and fed. She has back pain a  bit more than usual.
I've go  the big bed sheets and pillow cases going in the washing machine.
Outside a group of white cockatoos fight and squabble.
I strive with the Age crossword. But it is slow going.
Lunch was mushroom (tinned) on toast for me. And Vad finished off her roast chicken soup.
And - tra la- I have finished the crossword. (And vad has not). "grotesque" turned out to be 'bizarre'.
Getting hot weather.Even a real blue sky.
Once again I boldly hang out the big sheets to dry - with great skill.
It seems to be getting warmer and warmer.  retreat at times to the cool in the bedroom.
Still I have to bring in the dried sheets. and then I  found grey cat watching me. So i put out some mince for him.
Neither of us felt up to a real dinner. So I ha an omelet and Vad had a toasted sandwich.

5th March S. Not too bad a night. I'm up about half five. It  is warm but rather humid. Might have rained a bit In the night. There was thunder late yesterday.
Had breakfast as usual and finished both crosswords.
I will have to go to the library for Vad today. Not doing any shopping though.
I feel a bit more lively than yesterday.
So there i Am at 9AM. And the door is not open. So I knock and -lo and behold - they open the door.
I  hand in five books. Select five other books. Check them in with the librarians and home I go.
The sky is grey but my computer says the humidity is 85%. So that is why I am sweating.
Later we have coffee.
And i have a nap.
Vad is watching prerec 'T he Bill' so I gather up my thick gloves and big shears and go to the front garden. There is a lot of stuff there. The remains of the bush (buddlea - Think that is the spelling) and two quite large saplings. I'm not going to be able to easily dent the trees. I with need a skip and maybe  a chain saw.
I try cutting up the bush and put it in the wheelie bin.
I get it 90% full and still there is a lot to go. I am being outflanked.
I have thick soup and beans for lunch. vad has a boiled egg sandwich.
Time to wash up.
Still a grey  day. We have both air conditioners going though.
I go up the back to deal with the mulch bin. which now has a mouse/rat resident. So i left a packet of Ratsak as well.
Then there is grey cat. So i get some mince fore it.
then as I come back in from the garden -there was a strange woman trying to sell Vad a dozen eggs. We take  a good while to eat six so buying 12 makes no sense. And why is she going from door to door on a Saturday afternoon. well never know.
Now Vad is watching 'Homes under the hammer'.
Doinner was roast chicken soup for Vad. I had a chicken microwave thing.
Vad watches 'Gardening Australia' and I don't.
It has been a grey humid day- why?

4th March F. Well it is about half five AM. So the day starts.
coffee and blue cheese on toast and TV.
When Vad is up we check on our needs. No need to go to the chemist today. Huzzah!
The real shopping list is already sorted out.
Down to Mid Valley shopping centre I drive. Outside it is grey but warming up.
Get a trolley - and round Woolworths I go.
Lots of pensioners about. Where do they all come from?
 Spend just under v$90.
Something must be on. There is an unusual number of young females with narrow waist and clothing to match.
Next to the baker for more fresh bread.  And two hot cross buns.
Home  I drive careful like.
Coffee- Vad had a hot cross bun with hers   and I had some mild Hungarian salami.
Time  for Vad's pills. And , after a short chat with my  computer, I have a comfy nap.
Lunch- Vad  has an apple and cheese sandwich. I have a boiled egg sandwich. rather filling.
After a restful pause- Vad peels the mango (with great skill and daring) etc. and we both have mango and ice cream.
Self indulgence thy name is us. And later I concocted a nutri thing from apricot, peach and plum.
It is warming up a lot. I wash up and deal with the mulch bin up the back.  I  think there is a mouse in the bin.
I watch some of the film 'Moon'. But don't much care for it.
There is a small black flie that has been bothering us all day. So far I have used fly spray + -no help, a rolled up newspaper -it dodged- imprecations - no help at all.
Dinner was salad, 'chips',, and deep sea fish. All rather nice.
So we watch 'Egg heads' -  they win a usual.
3rd March Th. And I get colic in the night. But - I am still up about 5:33AM. And to work.
Help Vad with her pills, do the crosswords (more or less) , have my breakfast toast with blue cheese and with coffee. .
Start the washing machine.
We are being visited. So I must get fresh bread etc. Down to Mid Valley I go just short of 9AM. . Lots of pensioner types around - drinking coffee and the like. As well; I buy a subway plus a chicken pie at the butcher.
And back home I go.
Just as well as I am having colic. So stay near the toilet.
The sun shines and it is getting warmer.
We expect a gardner type from the council 'after lunch'. Well he arrives 12:3PM. (the bloke with golf tees in his ear lobes)
We talk re this and that. He shows me his mowers. And gets down his ride on mower and does the back garden and front garden and nature strip within an inch of its life. Very impressive.
As well he cuts back the hedge, the big overgrown buglier (??) thing out front. And removes a sapling from the far back right - which was getting rather tree like. All this in a couple of hours. Might well hire him later. For this we got on the cheap from the council as we are both old and decrepid.
As well I drive Callan down to the funeral he is going to attend.
I was supposed to have a nap and  shower but will leave these till later.
I bring in the car and put it in the  car port thing. Mighty hot in the car. There were small lizards running about.
Then I bring in the washing. Sweat, sweat.
Not sure what to have for dinner.; So I have a lie down in the cool for a while. I don't feel all that well.

2nd March W. I was having my breakfast about 6:309AM when I thought that I could hear a mouse.
It seemed to be intermittently chewing on something in one of the cupboards. I couldn't see anything.
When Vad had her breakfast we decided I should get some Ratsak and the like.
So i drive to Coles in Mid Valley shopping centre.
It is going to be 30+C today. So beside the Ratsak I bought prawns, cucumber , lettuce etc.
At this time of day you have to keep your eyes open or you my get mowed down by a young female wielding a large floor sweeper thing.
And back home I go.
The Mouse.
Empty out half the cupboard and put in a loaded mousetrap and some Ratsak as well.

all followed by a nap.
Lunch was hearty beef soup for me and a microwave meal for Vad.
30C plus which is warm.
This blog seems to have disappeared on my other computer.
As well I think my fingerprints are sort of disappearing.
Vad decided she wasn't up to salad for dinner. so we have sort of settled on prawn sandwich.
However then the phone rang - it was her sister wanting a five minute chat with Vad.
This lasted 26 minutes (I timed it).
Then we had out prawn sandwich followed by ice cream and banana.
It is still sweating hot weather.Later a progeny rang.

1st march T. Outside it is grey but we are promised 32C or so.
Still I get my breakfast and start the crosswords ( which I fail on miserably).
Must get a bit tidy as a home help arrives today ( for an hour or less).
I do the 20s with the two 5Kg dumbbells.
The sun is out and much of the sky is blue  - well bluish -mustn't forget the traditional pollution.
We defer coffee as this home help often arrives eerly. And she does.
So coffee later followed by Vad getting her pills and me then having a nap.
Afterwards I do 30 bench presses with the 12 Kg dumbbells.
Getting hotter.
Lunch was tomatoes on toast while Vad had a micro meal.
I sort of dithered about in the afternoon.
Eventually i remember to put out both wheelie bins for emptying tomorrow.
And do some gentle weights with the 12Kg dumbbells.
Dinner was prawn sandwiches.
Watch 'Egg Heads' and idle.
I did ten rows each hand with the 22Kg dumbbell. This is about my limit.
29th Feb M. New years day. Or something like this.
I've helped Vad with her pills. Had my breakfast and done the two crosswords. Also put out waste paper and started the washing machine. Mus get Vad up soon.
Vad is fed and the washing hung out.
That done and the shopping list organised - I drive to Mid Valley shopping centre. Weather not too bad. And round Woolworths I trot. Me and my trolley.
I  was going to buy a cream cake but alas there was none. Still I got most of what I wanted or needed.
And coughed up $82.
Next to the baker for bread and current buns.
Home I drive. Unload till my quads ache.
Have a sit down (eases the quads - a good thing) and then make coffee for us both.
I do some tidying up and help Vad  with her pills. After which I elect to have a ( well earned)
nap.
I then put together lunch. Vad wants a ham and pickles sandwich and for me -I  have a micro chicken mustard thing. Next Vad has a crème thing and I have ice cream and banana.
Time for me to do some vacuuming after I wash up. And I do. Mostly hunting cobwebs and the like.
It is warming up; -there is even a little blue in the sky.
Of course we get a phone call  (about 3PM) saying do we want solar panels? - NO!
There is a small yellow chested humming bird feeding just outside this window.
We both have retired for a lie down in the cool room. Later we have tea/ spit .
Then Vad is going to have a showewr and wash her hair.
I deal with the mulch bin up the back.
And -Lo!- there is grey cat watching me from  a bush. So I get out cat mince and Whiskas and put them out for him. He promptly tucks in.
I must bring in the washing later. The sun is bright and warm - right now..
Neither of us felt like a cooked dinner. So , in the end, we had prawn  (tinned) sandwiches.
Then we watch 'Egg heads'.
Going to be hot tomorrow they say.

28th Feb Sn. About half six am I drive through the dark to the newsagent.
Halfway there I see two shadows on the road and come to a halt. Just as well. It was the crew of a street sweeper . Why they stood in the road I know not. No Hi Vis vest stuff either. Anyway I got Vad's magazine and the Age newspaper and back home I go.
I start on the Age crossword. Vad will get her copy later.
As it turns out Vad finished her copy of the crossword. Both of us had lots of erasures and re writing.
Vad wasn't keen on lunch. So I had thick soup to which I had added a can of baked beans. Fundamentalist food.
Later Vad had a banana and custard etc.
Pleasantly sunny outside. I had a little wander round and then washed up. My legs are not too bad.
Sounds like we might be getting an election soon. hey ho.
Vad has gone for a nap. I'm watching some Tchaikovsky videos and then I will do the sink. It is slow in emptying And has done this before. So I give it a go with the Drano and see how it  goes.
Dinner was fish , 'chips', salad. And very nice too.
We watch 'Would you lie to me'. Etc.
I try out a new set of weight combinations. For no special reason.

27th Feb S. I managed the 20s with both 5Kg  dumbbells after breakfast. Though my right wrist was a bit sore.
It is library day today. So I am there smartly at 9AM. Hand in old books. Get out new books (5 in all) and home I go. Very organised.
And that is that. So I play on my computer till coffee time.
Lunch was tomatoes on toast for me plus more toast. Vad had a fancy sandwich.
Now she is watching 'Inspector Linley' on TV while I wash up.
The sun has come out. And I am pleasantly idling Shame on me but ok otherwise.
I do do some mild weights

Suddenly about half five Vad is struck with severe upper abdominal pain.
It takes pain killers, antacids, heated wheat bags and milk to quieten it. By about 6PM it is abating.
She  had this similar last December. It settled a this one has.
Oddly enough I had a little colic too.
Dinner for Vad - was nil and I had very thick soup.
We watch 'Homes  under the hammer'.
Vad belches a great deal. But no pain. Which is good.

26th Feb F. Will it rain nor not? anyway I got the washing machine going about 6:50AM. Then had my coffee and toast.
After Vad is up and I've got the washing hung out on the Hill's hoist to dry - we arrange for the shopping.- a list for the chemist, butcher and Woolworths.
And away I go. All runs fairly smoothly. Except in Woolworths , when a carton of milk fell from the shelf and exploded near me. Luckily someone sorted this out.
Home to unload and store the vitals. Then have coffee
Vad is going to a friends birthday thing at lunch time. So I have a short nap.
Then I drive her to the 'Italian club'. As always parking is tricky and as always Vad makes light of it.
Home i go the low traffic way. For lunch I have a bacon sandwich and a sausage. Not got the energy for cooking.
Outside it is rather overcast.  I put out old bread in the back garden for the passing birds.
It seems that Australia is going to spend real money on 'defence '.
But more likely to fulfill a supportive role when China and the USA start eyeing each other.
I picked up Vad from her coterie of ancient females
(it was the birthday of one of then =aged 90) at the Italian Australian club. I can just remember when it opened. There were a lot of Italians about here back then.
Home we drive. Having to do 40Kph to protect non visible children.
Vad has a nap  and I nave a shower. And bring in the dried washing.
Very  grey overhead. Then we both have coffee and a small custard tart.
Now Vad is sorting out the sausages (21 thin beef) that I bought this morning.

I did this and that .
dinner was good - schnitzel, tatoes, peas and gravy. Yum!

25th Feb Th, Not a bad night for sleeping - by my standards anyway. . So I am up abut 5:30AM as often.
Wash, shave, clean teeth, copy crosswords. Do mine. Vad will do her crossword later.
Have my breakfast. toast with blue cheese plus coffee.
Got to sort out Vad's Term deposit turnover today. The Commonwealth bank opens about half nine.
So I get to the parking arra and then walk to the bank. Quite a way by my legs count. And when I get there there is a queue of 20+!!
Just as i was wondering what to do - a young woman from the bank comes over and helps me.
Now I'm still standing but things are getting done.
Eventually i find a chair to sit on as my legs ache a lot.
She sorts things out - give me the interest in cash as Vad said. I thank her and slowly walk back to the ca. And home I go. Glad to get inside and sit down.
Eventually we have coffee and toast.
Today I weight 92.8Kg.
I do this and that. But best of all -I have a good nap. Always (or nearly always) a magic effect.
I had a micro meal 'chicken Kiev' for lunch. Passable for that sort of food.
Vad had ham , cheese  and pickles on toast. which I put together.
It is warming up outside and inside. Vad says to put the cool on. Which , eventually, I do.
I thought it would rain today. well it did briefly early on. So i postponed doing the washing. Maybe not a good idea.
It is strange how - all of a sudden- you  can feel the need for sleep. Often at an inconvenient time.
My left ring finger is not so painful but still a bit swollen and - for the first time - a bit bent. It doesn't lie alongside the finger next to it. Hey ho.
Dinner was  sausages ,tatoes, broccoli and gravy.
Now Vad is watching 'Egg Heads'. And I have just finished washing up. Exploitation.

24th Feb W. Slept better than I expected in view of the warmth.
My left ring finger is sore and a bit swollen and blue. Vad says it is arthritis but I think I gave it a wallop yesterday.
Had our breakfasts. and the doves are cooing outside. A rather grey sky but more warmth is predicted. I put the 'cool' on.
As usual 'bush' fires all over the place in Victoria. Houses burnt and the like. .
I did some 20s with the two 5Kg dumbbells. Didn't hurt my hand. This entails 20 each of shoulder presses, row, curls, flyes, triceps  and bench presses.
As well I found some chocolate and pinched some of Vad's potato crisps. cough, cough -I'm a bit wheezy. So decide on a nap Well I am 80+ years old.
Vad is watching prerec TV. Sneeze.
Tried  the 22Kg dumbbell Managed ten rows each hand -just.
I had cheese on toast for lunch. Vad had a curried egg sandwich  (I did the mashing)
Then we both have a frozen thing on a stick.
Brought in both wheelie bins (emptied of course). This does make me wheeze a bit.
We watch 'Egg heads' . They lose! About 16 Grand.
I wash up. In the past I told Vad we should use disposable plates so as to save me washing up.
She say 'No!'. !!
And next we both nap in the 'cool'.
Did more weights using the 12Kg dumbbells.
Went up the back garden to use the mulch bin. Ground is very dry. i put some water on the cacti.
Dinner was tomatoes on toast.
And I wash up as Vad watches some recorded TV program.

23rd Feb 2016.
----Well found you again!
This blog abruptly disappeared a while back. And however much I hunted I couldn't ind it. Even when I moved onto Foxfire it took ages. this  on my old PC.
Now i'm using this new laptop with new windows 10. Of course no book of instructions came with either of these.
Eventually I got a windows 10 book from 0ur local library. And gradually  i'm finding my way about.
So here I go again - more or less (I think and hope)

Going to be a real warm day they say -38C or so.
So ive already done the washing and got it hanging out to dry.
and we both have breakfasted. Got to tidy things up as the home help comes for her fortnightly visit.
I'm rather sore and stiff as I did weights a day or so ago.
The garden is dry -the grass crunches underfoot as I go to the mulch bin up the back.
And put out old bread for the birds.
Vad's back was playing up - sciatica etc -  but seems quieter for now.
The home help has done her stuff. Always a cheerful woman. and always ready for a bit of a chat with Vad. We get an hour of her help.
It is warming up. I've just been to look in the letterbox. A gas bill only.
The sky is rather overcast. I'm sure the sky used to be a lot bluer in past years. Especially in the 60s when I first came to Australia.
Vad had a ham and lettuce sandwich for lunch. While I had a largish micro rice meal.
37C outside. And almost inside as well.
A bit early to put out the wheelie bins as they are likely to get blown over.
Nap.
Which is a good idea.
Later I bring in the washin. Then deal with one wheeloe bin. Then we hve tea/ coffee.
Vad is watching prerec 'Egg heads'
I cut up more  branches with the big shears and stuff them into the wheelie bin until it is full. then I put it out on the nature strip for tomorrow. and back inside sweating ad lib..
We over did things for sinner. It was a big salad. Lots of prawns and the like.
I needed a lie down afterwards to let my tummy settle down .
Vad watches 'Egg heads;' etc. I just mess around. Still very warm. going to be a warm night.

.

31st Jan Sn. Well I drive through the early dawn to get Vad's magazines as well as the age newspaper (for its crossword).
As well I buy 'Windows 10 for seniors'. Not a good buy.(Price $18)  It says for seniors yet the script is small and the pages are full of blurry screen shots.
The writing is fond of referring to Windows 8. Which is not much help if you haven't used Windows 8..--- Disappointing.
Home and I complete the cross  word before I have my breakfast.
After breakfast I thought I might be early and deal with the severed  sapling branches between our house and the fence. So round I troop and start heaving the branches etc out into the open.
Alas I had forgotten yesterdays rain. All the leaves on the branches and twigs showered me with water.
I retreated rather damp about the feet and legs. Inside to dry out.
Vad is a bit off colour stomach wise. So meals are restricted.  Dinner  was nil for Vad and thick soup + baked beans for me.
We watched a bit of 'seven brides for seven brothers'.
And I decided to do some weights after all.  Wasn't very lively in the morning.
Now with 12Kg dumbbells- I do 20 flyes, then 30 bench presses, and 15 curls.  I tried to do  the deltoids sets with the 5kg dumbbells but my right shoulder said no.

30th Jan S. Didn't sleep all that well.
Still I have to go to the library to renew Vad's library books. I get out four for her today.
I decided next  to drive to Mid Valley to go to the Coles there. they may have stuff in stock that Woolworth's didn't.
And it was so.EG chicken schnitzels and the like These can make good eating.
After coffee I try to make up some sleep. Which I do to a degree.
I spent much of the afternoon re reading Len Dighton's 'Blitzkrieg'.
Well we did have the schnitzel etc for dinner and enjoyable it was
29th jan F. It has stopped raining.
Might be a busy morning. After we have breakfast  I get the assorted shopping lists together.
First drive  down to Mid alley shopping centre.
I start  at the chemist putting in our pill order.
Next over to Big W. Vad wants me to buy some clothes for her from their catalogue. At first I cannot find a female to help me. but the front office puts out a call. And in no time there is a young woman from the staff who finds all three items -the right size too - that Vad wanted. Hurrah! Buying female clothing can be tricky.
I pay ( with Vad's card - her order) and on to Woolworth I go to reload our food/
Finally the chemist again and on to the  baker and then home.
Unload etc till my legs ache.I'm glad to sit down for a little while.
Then we have coffee and a custard tart each.
Next is the organised time. I help Vad with her pills = all of them.
Then I have a comfy nap. Very therapeutic.
Vad and I both have soup for our lunch.
I see in Sweden the police are fleeing from the 'immigrants' when they get attacked by them. Gosh!
The Swedish politician seem to be mad and self destructive. But then they are feminist and multicultural.  As you sow so you reap.
Dinner turns out to be tatoes and bacon.
Rain.

28th Jan Th. They said there would be 80% chance of rain .
But the sun shines. So I get the washing machine going. And even do a little weights before my breakfast. I nutriblend an apple and have that as my breakfast fruit.
After we are both fed I set about a sapling that has got to thick. It is by the house. So I get out the electric saw and miles of cable.
And set about the young tree. Naturally it almost fell on me. and then the blade on the  saw worked loose. So I had to find the Allen key.
Back to business and armed with both electric saw and big shears the sapling becomes bits of wood.
Sweaty work though.
And throughout i felt unsteady - surrounded by bits of branches everywhere , up to my knees and near buried in them .
Next I hang out the washing to dry. It is still sunny.
Madly sweating -Need a change of T shirt and a bit of a lie down.
Coffee
Nap. Comfy.
Lunch – ice cream for both of us - and then thick soup – in that order.
It is clouding over outside so I bring in the washing – dry too.
Do a few weights.
Thunder.  No lightning though. And more and more t6hunder. The house lights go off  and on a couple of times.
I weigh 94Kg exactly.
Did 6 x 10 bench presses with the 14 kg dumbbells etc.plus
We had salad for dinner. Rather filling.
Vad's sister rang her for  a  talk. -must buy some device to help as vad's hearing varies a lot
Going to be a warmish night.

27th Jan W. At first I thought I was having a funny turn. I was lying there in bed and there was bright flashes behind my closed eyelids. But then the thunder came followed by the rain.
Time to get up.
No sign of the newspaper that should have been delivered to our front drive.
And it still rained. I finally guessed. By sort of squatting down I could see a shadow under the car. When I waved my stick around .and  out came the newspaper all wrapped in the usual plastic.
So I had my breakfast and did both crosswords before Vad was up.
The wind has not blown the wheelie bins over thankfully.
Quite a few of the blogs I read think that there should be no 'Australian of the year. Well it always leads to PC righteousness.
No middle class ever win it.
Lunch   was very thick soup for me and roast chicken soup for Vad plus an apple pie.
The sun has come out. I look in the letter box – nothing - and then bring in the empty wheelie bins. I can feel the sun warming on my back.
The radio says that they spend 38 billion dollars a year on the aboriginals !
Government departments etc etc.
Doesn't seem to do much good.
We both had a micro meal for dinner.
A niece of Vad's rang up for a chat later.
Not heard anything from the children for a good while.

25th Jan M. Well I clean forgot Monday.
I did shop and all that stuff but I intended going easy.
No weights. Mainly to see if my assorted skeletal muscular aches and pains are diminishing. Well they are - sort of. My quads still ache. probably a chronic thing now.
But my arms  and hands etc improved As usual when I stop lifting my appetite goes down somewhat.
26th Tuesday:- Another grey Gippsland day. Breakfast as usual. For a while I thought I might have toothache but it wore off.
It is 'Australia Day' and so full of Jingoism. An Australia of the year got rid of 'the blokey culture' in the army!! Inspiring.!!
They say thousands became Australian citizens today. . But forgot to mention the babies born in Australia today.
The News had some aboriginals doing some ceremonial dance. They were all notably not very dark skinned.
I put out the two full big wheelie bins for emptying tomorrow. Rather heavy and cumbersome. They are awkward especially the one full of cut up branches.
Neither of us are very energetic today.
Dinner was salad and fish and chips. Not had this for a while.

24th Jamn Sn. About 6AM I drive to the newsagent as is the Sunday custom. Needed the headlights just.
Bought Vad's two magazines and the Age newspaper ( for its crossword only). As well I remembered to buy computer ink and got a birthday card that Vad anted., Some of the birthday cards are real rude. But I got a fancy posh one.
I got most of the crossword done by the time I got Vad up for her breakfast.
Another ditto day - IE grey cloudy and about 21C.
At Vad's 'suggestion' I put the big sheets through the washing machine and later hung them out to dry.
I thought my aches and pains had eased but they returned about 2PM. So I looked up and found the kind of advice I wanted. Rx= No weights for a whole week.
We both have finished the crossword. Not so hard this week.
Lunch was beans on toast for me (there was a time when I almost lived on this) and Vad had pumpkin soup. Don't like this myself.
Together  we renewed the bed. Putting pillow cases on pillows is not as easy as you might think.

The Age had an odd article about an eighty year old couple still  working their farm when all about them real estate was blooming.

I watered some of Vad's garden plants  and her early sun flowers but the flies got me in the end.

The media keeps trying to reassure us as how the markets are really ok. So things must be dodgy.

Dinner was chicken schnitzel, tatoes, peas and gravy. Real good. I like this kind of schnitzel.
I've taped (temporarily) 'seven brides for seven brothers'. This goes back a bit. High quality cliches
23rd Jan S.  It looks sort of unpredictable weather outside. There is a thin streak of blue  sky with  large grey cloud near it.
Still I've had my breakfast and will get Vad up soon.
A mob of birds are chasing each other near the apple tree.
It is library day today. So at 9AM I am there. Hand in the old books . Get our five books for Vad to read.
Check them in at the counter and home I drive.
As so often happens Vad decided I needed to put something through the washing machine.
Today it is dusty curtains. They have been hanging there for ages. Well – will see how things go.
After washing  and then hanging one of them out to dry we have coffee.
My right sided gum is sore from eating some salami. It got stuck between two back teeth. And had to be poked out..
I had a comfy nap.
I fear it is drizzling a bit so I have to bring in the curtain and get it dried inside. Still it was about two thirds dry.
A well deserved nap.
Goodness my legs and arms are stiff and sore. As if I had walked up half a dozen staircases.
Second day DOMS I suppose.
Lunch was cheese on toast followed by ice cream. No effort you see. Vad has a compound sandwich.
The sun is out again ! So I put the second big curtain through the wash.
I throw out some old sausage rolls.
And Lo!-  there is grey cat eating one. If he eats  them- he must be hungry. He sort of looks gaunt.
So I open a tin of cat mince and put out that plus some Whiskas. He wades into this.
After Vad has her shower and hair wash (and brush - by me)  we have coffee and a biscuit. .
I bring in the curtain – near dry (It is windy) and then hang both of them up in the bedroom. I need my arms full stretch for this. Even then - the first time- it all fell down.
Vad made each of us an omlette. Mine had some garlic in it. Rather daring but not bad.
I felt stiff and sore for much of the day but in the evening I came good.

22nd Jan F.  they say there is an 80% chance of rain .
Still no harm as it is shopping day today. About 20C outside.
We have both done the crosswords and had our breakfast.
The cartoon -Calvin and Hobbes- was good. He was 'made in Taiwan'.
Before Vad has her coffee we draw up the two lists - One for the chemist and one for shopping.
And down to Mid Valley I go. The weather is ok so far.
First to the chemist./ Don't want much today. Then to Big W. But they dont have the printer ink I want. And round Woolworth. They don't have it either but I still load up my trolley.
This is easy enough.
Next to the chemist to collect my order.
On to the baker for the two loaves and an apple thing. Finally I get 21 thin beef sausages at the butcher. And home I go.
See - very organised am I .
We have coffee. We had bee warned there was a planned power outage but it didn't appear. GOK what happened. And down comes the rain.
I have a nap.
My legs ache. From the  weights yesterday and neurogenic claudication.
Lunch was cheese on toast for me (not  had this in a while) and a big fancy thick sandwich fo Vad.
I'm quite nifty at slicing up tomatoes.
Still raining with enthusiasm.
So I do no real work but just play on the computer. And still get lost. The improvements always seem to make things more tricky.
Later I use the Nutrobullet to make a banana , peach and apple thing -? smoothy or whatever it is called. Not bad though I accidentally inhaled  some of it.
Dinner was bangers and mash1

21st Jan Th. Another busy day. So by 8AM I have done the washing and hung it out. Had my breakfast and done both crosswords. And some light weights with the 5Kg dumbbells.
T ime to tell Vad kit isa 8AM and so time to get up.
Which I do. Her back & sciatica is giving her gyp.
Vad  says I have to post two birthday cards. So i decide I will drive to mid Valley . Not only  letterboxes there but Coles supermarket as well
It is notable how letterboxes are becoming fewer in numbers. They used to symbolise reliability and redness.
So I posted the letters and bought fruit. I feel the fruit in Coles is a bit fresher than that  in Woolworths. As well I got some microwave meals just in case.
Next I managed to buy fifteen  30 cent stamps as the stamp price has risen to $1 a letter.
Home for coffee etc. It seems to be oddly humid and a bit overcast.
Lunch was a microwave for me. Thick soup plus a drumstick for Vad.
I went to the back garden to deal with the mulch bin.  And was promptly attacked by very adhesive little black flies. In eyes, ears etc. A butterfly sort of joined in as well. So back inside I go and I will stay.
Later I brought in the washing unmolested.
And did bench presses with the 12Kg dumbbells plus curls and rows with the EZ bar.
Dinner was bacon , tatoes,  gravy etc. OK too.
Now Vad watches 'Egg Heads'. Outside the sun shines.

20th Jan W. Rain + rain.
So the paper was delivered late. And so the crosswords were done late.
Otherwise all ISQ.

Hopefully a restful day.
Vad seems not too bad though her sinuses are still a bit bothersome.

Someone says the world is owed 200 trillion dollars. Quite a bit of money.
Believable  what with all that money printing (easing)  and such like.
I heard a politician say he wanted to let future generations PARTICIPATE in the current 'development' ie they can pay for it.

Dinner was  real good -schnitzels, potatoes, gravy and broccoli.
memorable.
Later as Vad watched 'Egg Heads ' I did some sort of trial weights with the two 5Kg dumbbells. Without provoking my shoulders ( much).
OK but  think it might have aggravated my Ekboms later.
19th Jan T. Up early as usual - so  toast (+ blue cheese)  , coffee and crossword.
As usual Vad is up about 8AM. She seems not too bad.
I have to drive to Bunnings so i do.
Vad wants  potting mic (fancy stuff and two of them)and I buy some flower  seeds, and a new potted plant. A gerbera I think. By and large we are getting potted colours plants instead of cut flowers. Seems to work out.
Already warming up.
I clean forgot the home help comes today. So I bustle to get things ready and then make coffee for Vad n me. .
The home help arrives = not the familiar one and starts (sort of)
I drink my coffee and retreat to safety into the computer room.
I'm still trying to use the keyboard on my other (old) computer. Don't like flat keyboards.

Everyone seems worried about China's health. Well it has been an easy ride for a while selling iron ore and coal.
In one of the blogs I read it says that Sweden is giving its 'Syrian immigrants' sniping lessons - as  part of language training.

The home help finished off a bit early I think.
Lunch was a boiled egg and lettuce sandwich for Vad. I couldn't decide - not really hungry= so in the end have another chicken and rice micro thing.
took a Panadol as I have DOMS (I think) in hands and arms and legs.
The Nutri bullet thing seems  to be going well.
getting through a lot more soft fruit. I was wary of apples with my touchy teeth being the way they are. but this way -no problem.
Though didn't like a tomato on its own after going through the machine. But then many tomatoes taste of nothing much.
I dealt with both wheelie bins and put them out or tomorrow. Amazing how much waste paper we accumulate. Bleeding hot outside.
Dinner was prawn sandwich. Biggish 'cocktail' prawns. We then shared out the left overs.
As well I had some salami.
In spite of everything it is still 32C in this room.

16th Jan S.It is going to the library day today.
BUT I'm having blogger trouble. On my old computer they say I have an old version of browser which the wont accept any more.
I'm supposed to understand this ?
I down loaded 'Opera' and then 'Firefox'. Neither seems to let me carry on blogging.
On this lap top I'm Ok. But I don't really like  the keyboard. (Two finger typist - at best)

As well we both might have yet another virus condition -only about ten days since the last one. As Vad inhales steam with vigour for her current sinusitis.

15th Jan F. Going to be an active day. I get the washing machine going , do both crosswords and have my tost and coffee (twice).
Vad is up later.
We both agree it was an unexpectedly cold night.
My right gum area still a bit touchy. Not surprising though.40 odd minutes of dentistry + local might bruise things.
Well I did the chemist , Woolworths and the baker. Outside it is warming up and more people are coming.
Back home to unload.
And have coffee.+ share the custard scroll.
My back is starting to ache as if I ad been digging ditches + my arms.
Vad seems a bit off. But still she had a beef and pickle sandwich for her lunch. I had thick soup with baked beans.
soon Vad felt rally off and a bit faint. So off to bed she went.
I washed up and other such activities. I did tell Vad I was getting in a rut and she said 'it as good for me'!!
When I went into the back garden to empty stuff into the much bin I was attacked by many small insects who were rather adherent. I was glad to get back inside.

It  looks very like ISIS is out to destroy the tourist industries in many Muslim countries. Jakarta today.
Vad delayed dinner a lot as she wasn't up to getting up. though about half even she settled for a vegemite sandwich ! I had a microwave earlier on.
She vis still up and watching 'Egg Heads'. I am reading ( well re reading) 'Horse under water = len Deighton.

14th Jan Th. - RAIN !
Vad is pleased but I know it means  more mowing and garden work.I decided to do the shopping tomorrow. No good reason.
Tested my use of the 5Kg dumbbells - 20 curls etc. These fit my hands ok.
We eventually have coffee. I opened a fresh new coffee contsainer. The smell is alway delicious. But doesn' kast long.
So we have coffee and bikkies.
I weigh 92.4Kg losing a bit.
Mark you when I married I was just over 11 Stone.
We have idle gossdip and play sort of alzeimers. "Do you remember?".
I had thick soup for lunch . Vad had a ,microwave meal.
I clean my teeth very careful like. The dentist looks. He told me it would take 40 minutes.
And at 3PM I present myself to the dentist.
It will take time - whn I asked last week he said about 40 minutes. And today he was not far out. He is a good dentist and even said I was admirably calm !!
Flattery. (The truth was that I had pinched half of one tablet  of Vad's Valium)
Cost me $170 which I paid with my credid card thing. So no pain at all.
It drizzled all the way home.
My mouth felt odd and numb. Still I told him I wanted local " better safe than sorry I said."- So I was.
I had another trial run with the 'nutribullet' - apple , soft fruit etc. went ok.
Dinner was sausages, mashee tatoes, peas and gravy. oK.
Vad is watching 'Egg Heads', But blames the sausages for her touchy stomach.
I watch 'the last days of Anne Bolyn'.

13th Jan W. nearly choked to death this morning while taking my BP tablets.
Cough, cough, splutter etc. I should be more careful.
It isw going to be 40C + today.
I did curls and roows withy the lightweight 15Lg EZ bar. Plus thje deltoid sequences with the new 5Kg dumbbells. Thjey fit my hands better than the old ones I had for years.
I drove to Mid Valley to spend my Christmas money (+). Bought a Nutribullet and then two plastic coated 5Kg dumbbells ( mostly for deltoid routines).
Lots of bare legs at shopping centre but not always a good idea. Summer I guess.
Bought some bread rolls at Vad's behest.
Home, coffee, nap.
Lunch was a butter chicken micro for me. Vad had a bread roll with ham and pickles.
It is getting right warm.
I water some plants. Wash up. and try out the new nutribullet. It works.
Though I spilt some to start up with. I had an apple , banana and milk.  Well thjat was all I could think of.
Sleep in the cool. - 35C inside.
Have an icy pole each.
Later Vad phones one of her progeny. While I watch a DVD of Summer wine'.
We finish of the pizza for dinner.
vad watches 'Egg heads' while I do 6 x 10 benches with the 14Kg dumbbells. rather hot doing this.

12th Jan T. Didn't sleep all that well last night. Still up just after half five as usual. well being wide awake make getting up sensible.
Did it really rain in the night?
Must tidy up and empty the vacuum cleaner etc. as the home help comes today.
I get the hedge trimmer out and attack the front hedge as far as I can reach. holding the electric trimmer at arms length makes me rather wobbly.
Now :- About 8:30AM and I can see a mass of blackbirds picking over the bread I put out yesterday.
Some pop star died and the radio etc are going on (and on) like he was a cross between Bethoven and Tchaikovsky.
We have coffee a bit late at the hopme help arrives. She didn't say hwer name ( as they are supposed to). But said she had been here i the past. Neithewr of us can rememver her. She does a bit f this and that but doesn't stay long. Not a gossip.
So we have coffee ndsalada.
We were expecting the men from Apex who bring yet more library books. But they didn't come. Instrad 'Anna' came.- she has talked to Vad on the phone a lot. But here she was in person bring books and talk. And talk.
Lunch was a prawn sandwich each. cocktail prawns.
It seems to be getting warmer than we were promised.
So we both retreat to the cool
Later I deal with both wheelie bins that are for emptying tomorrow.
My arms and legs ache - probably DOMS - so I take two whole Panadol. it helped Not sure what we will do about dinner. vad has no appetite.
Eventually we do order a pizza - mushroom , deep pan.-- rather nice too.
Vad watches 'Egg Heads' as she eats. I don't. I watch my DVD 'last of summer wine'.

.

11th jan M.  Going to reach 35C today. So I must bustle on.
By 7AM I had my breakfast , done both crosswords, got the washing done and hung out to dry and started today's shopping list.
Vad up and breakfasted by half eight and away I go.
Get some owed pills from the chemist. Got cash money for both of us from the ATM. Rolled around Woolworths. Even getting prawns and potato salad.
It ended up to  be quite a heap. the young male checkout asked me if I had bought the shop.
Next to get bread and a custard scroll.
Quite a few young accompanied children about besides us pensioners/
And home I go.
Unload and  put away the stuff. Always makes my quads ache. I'm a bit stiff and sore from the weights and the branch cutting.
Coffee followed by a comfy nap/
Lunch was a prawn sandwich for me and Vad had ham, tomato and cheese sandwich
Now is the time for idleness, it is getting greyer outside.
Australia still burns. As is the custom.
The temperature climbs into the thirties.
so rest in the cool bedroom makes sense.
I do water Vad's sunflowers, the rhubarb etc and put out water for passing birds.
Later I get the salad ready. takes time but then is tasty and filling (very) . I have a bit of a lie down afterwards.

10th Jan Sn. Up about 5:40AM. And drive to newsagent about 6Am to get Vad's magazines, the  Age newspaper and renew the 'herald sun' delivery. Home I go.
we don't really get the Age to read but to do the crossword in it. I copy it on my computer for my effort.
Today I'm have trouble with the crossword. even after  I've had my toast and coffee.
There was a New Holland  honey eater (that's what Vad said it was)  feeding on the bush outside  our window.
Lots of big crows about eating the old Salada I put out.
Neither of us did well on the crossword. but i did some clever cheating.
To see how things were I did 20 curls and rows with the 15Kg EZ bar. not to bad so my virus thing is gone.
Vad had a microwave meal for lunch and I ha thick soup with some spaghetti added that I found an old tin of.
30C now.
I did more branch cutting and putting in the large wheelie bin. An old nest was revealed. Shoddy workmanship. it seemed to be partly made of a bit of plastic.
 No flies thankfully.
A nap.
More weights with the 12Kg dumbbells. sweat, sweat.
Dick Smith is a goner. I stopped buying there a while ago. His products seemed poor quality and the staff ill informed.
And Cologne in Germany isn't having much fun. The politicians don't seem to like white people. When they protest the water cannons come out.
Dinner was amicro for me and Vd had ham and pickle on toast.
Her shoulders seem to be getting slowly more useful.

9th Dec S. Seems to be getting darker every time I get up.
Going to be 30C they say.
I have to go to the library to renew Vad's books. she wants for me to get six out. So I do. And home I go. I decided against shopping today. Don't really feel up to it.
Though I  feel sort of better all in all.
We have coffee/ tea. (Tea for me).
And - there is sunshine !
Still I have a nap.
Lunch was a curried egg sandwich for Vad. I did the mashing as her shoulder is still  not full ok.
I had the thick soup  with baked beans added.
I've been off colour for four to five days. About time I got better. I haven't touched a dumbbell in  ages.
I play on the computer. But a bit later water Vad's sun flowers etc. The sun flowers are  coming on.
Then  I get the hedge trimmer thing out  and trim back the hedge as far as I can reach.
feel a bit done in after this though.
We ha the exotic mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and bacon. I liked it.
I watch Mythbusters. they must be getting on in years. Adam's hair and beard re whitish. Odd really - my bear is white. and has been this way for some time. Yet the hair on the back of my head is stubbornly brown.

8th Jan. A cold night. Found my bed clothes had mostly fallen off.
Got up. Put them back. Get back into bed a bit briskly. and smack my skull on the bed head.
Ouch!
Later had breakfast, did crossword, started washing machine.
Told Vad it was 8AM and time to get up.
I've still got SDV - headache, aches and pains and slight malaise. Vad sort of the same.
Have coffee. Hang out washing to dry. Cold and windy.
Summer??
Lunch was a fancy sandwich for Vad and I had some sort of microwave meal.
Gas bill came $311 -paid it pronto on the net. modern technology.
More Panadol as aches and pains. A bit of a lie down.
The sun comes out !
Cough and wheeze. So bring in washing all dry it seems.
The day passes when you don't feel marvy.
Dinner  was 'chicken fingers' for vad and I had thick soup.
-- a red sky at night. ?? shepherds delight.

7th Jan Th. Up early as often and then help vad with her pills and so back to bed.
I have my breakfast and do the crossword.
Copying the crossword for me will be a problem soon. Vad has the original and I copy it on the Fax  machine. Except the supply of fax paper is drying up/ Might have to use the computer or some such.
Grey weather but sun later.
We shopping day. So with both draw up the lists -chemist  and Woolworths.
And away I drive. Getting there early gets you parking and lrss queuing. And round I go. An odd sight is the long willing queue at the tattslotto place.
I get our pills ( well most of them - not everything is in stock) and food and bread. And so swan off home.
We have coffee. Vad seems not too bad and I am a little flu like.
I hope my nap will be therapeutic as I have things to do but am not overly dynamic.
Lunch was a boiled egg sandwich for Vad. I had my thick soup concoction - pea and ham augmented with baked beans. Very therapeutic. Though I do take  a Panadol.
My arms nd legs did start the aches and pains again. the Panadol makes a difference. No cough today.
I spend some time watching video clips advertising ( sort of) the Nutribullet blender . Entertaining in a way especially the ones done by the 'Rackboyz' African Americans. They drop things and mumble etc.

Another nap/ bedrest.
I weigh 93.1Kg and BP = 125/55.
We each had a bacon sandwich for dinner.
And watch desultory TV.
6th Jan W. Yes I have some damn virus. cough, cough.
So after breakfast I decide to do some emergency food shopping in case we are both laid low. As well I get some paperbacks for Vad as the library is inaccessible.
Down to Coles in Mid Valley I drive. And buy assorted microwave meals and some white peaches.
Quite a few pensioners shopping as is so often at early morning. And a few? single fathers.
Next to the book shop. it says it is closing down.
There has been a book shop here for many, many years and now it is gong. I buy three paperbacks for Vad at $6 each. And home I go.
After coffee I have a nap but  still has malaise when I woke. Plus my usual colic.
I hd some soup for lunch. Vad had ham & cheese on toast
Although he was still off colour she was due for an assisted shower this afternoon. And so it happened.
I kept well out of the way as well as taking two panadol. These eased my headache..
Later more rest in bed. And cough, cough.
We sort of idled .
Dinner was a plate of fruit for Vad and a mall micro meal for me.
Happily to bed later.

5th Jan T. A grey day but I must get the washing done none the less.
And when the  washing is actually done I find myself hanging it out in a light drizzle. Still hope springs eternal.
We had an extra home help allocation. A very large woman and full of chat. So I make myself scarce.
The peace and quiet afterwards was pleasant.
Vad is mildly off colour but still has her headache. I'm not so sure about me.
I had beans on toast and Vad had soup for lunch.
Then I started feeling ill. My legs ache mightily and standing up was an effort. Still Panadol helped.
Later I did wash up and. then I really needed a good lie down.
So I have the same SDV that Vad has. Still life goes on - just slower.
I bring in the washing and sort some of it out. Then deal with   the wheelie bins and put them out for tomorrow.
Latewr Vad had fruit salad for dinner and I had a small microwave meal.
Cougth , cough. Not getting about much.

4th Jan M; Rain.
And the days seem to be getting darker first thing.
I go down to the dental clinic early on and actuallyget given  a dental appointment at 3PM. - not bad. I feel a bit of my tooth is missing./
Vad is not too bad at present.
Lunch ws tomatoes on toast for me and a complex sandwitch for Vad.
Still raining.
About half two the shower assisting lady comes and Vad gets her shower.
Her joints are improving though. She doesn't feel the need to wear a sling at night anymore.

Down to the dentist I go. it seems a bit of  a tooth is missing. It is a root canalled tooth - hence little pain. He grinds the rough bit smooth and I will get it filled next week.

Back home. Vad is all showered. Shiny and new.
So Vad has a nap.
But she still has SDV( some damn virus).

I'll leave it at this for today.

The world is still full of politicians.
3rd Jan Sn. Rain!
Abut 6Am I drive to the newsagent to buy vad's magazines and the Age newspaper.
We don't really read the Age but the crossword in it done rather competitively.
And - I get  a head start.
Vad seems not too bad so far.
I decide to shop early - so I leave about half eight. Round Woolworths I troll buying this and that. But buying with an eye to the fact that Vad might not be up to any cooking.
We do manage coffee together.
And I do assorted weight lifting.
Lunch was chicken fingers for vad & I had a good microwave meal.
Decided to cut more branches off the overgrown trees and bushes. Didn't get very far. I was assailed by masses of small  adhesive black insects that tried to get in my nose, eyes, ears etc. and they wouldn't take 'no' for an answer.
so I gave up and came back inside.
Vad still has her virus condition.
So i wont write anymore today.
2nd. Jan S. A rather grey day so far.
Alas. vad had a sudden idea. I should wash the big bedsheets and all the pillow cases. So - I do.
This I quite an effort and has to be done in two lots.
Hanging the big sheets on the Hill's host to dry is  an art-form. but I  do it - all in time for coffee
Vad had spaghetti bol microwave an I had chicken parmigiana.
I bring in the big sheets - dry as should be.
.About 6PM Vad feels ill-headache and assorted aches and pains. Feels cold.  Sounds a bit virus like. Panadol helps.
Vad to bed early.
1st Jan F. It is 2016.  I don't much care for these swort of years . I think the 1970 or 80s were better. Hey ho.!

There are three or four honey eaters on the bush outside my window. If I keep still they don't notice me. They seem not to be feeding but all have  wisps of hair like stuff. Maybe nest building.
Later the mob of blackbirds arrived and went after the old bread in the back garden.
This until the big black crow flew down onto the Hill's washing hoist. Then down to the ground. All the blackbirds promptly fled.\
Vad says the crows have been dropping things on our roof early on.  They seem to do this now and then. GOK why.
Going to be 34C so the washing machine is  going.
I have my breakfast and do the crosswords.
As usual Vad is  up about 8AM. I help her  off with the shoulder sling and on with the elastic stockings. These seem to be doing their job.
Going to be an assisted shower today for Vad at noon. So things get arranged,
I've got a vague ache in my left lower back tooth. it has been much filled. So my fingers are crossed.

All over the west the capital cities are flooding the place with police and soldiers - just in case. Odd really.
In 1940 to 1945 things seemed much calmer. Though the PTB had their minds on other things.

the assisted shower lady has come so I make myself clear.
Half an hour or so later Vad emerges alll shiny and clean.

We both have soup for lunch - Vad 'pumpkin' and me 'hearty beef'.

And then spend the afternoon in comfy idleness.
I've downloaded 'foxfire' as my computer keeps telling me my browser is outdated and won't be recognised soon. Why are things so complicated.
So I bring in the washing - all dry of course.

ODQ Vad says her shoulders are not too bad. (Not up to washing up though - it seems) but her back is bad with sciatica.
Of course that fat  bastard in Melbourne refused to operate on her. A pox on him.

An odd thing - I was putting something into the wheelie bin and there was grey cat at the base of the Hill's hoist -all curled up. And cat went "waaa" to me.
Well I can take an hint. So I get out Whiskas and mince and put it in his bowl. Soon I see him eting heartilky. where has he been all this time ?
He looks lean. All his winter fur has gone.

Dinner was bacon sandwiches.
Vad watched one of those 'midwife' programs which I find excrutiating.
So I put my earphones on and lsten to something else. after washing up , of course.
